Newsletter January 2015

Happy New Year from Hawks, Honkers & Hoots! Were happy to start the new year off with two new bird ambassadors; Hover, the American Kestrel, and Phoenix the Osprey. They are both doing well with their training.  Hover has made a couple of appearances out in the public thus far where he's building his confidence.  Phoenix has shown some great promise in building her bond with Heila, her trainer.  We look forward to sharing her with you.

All our other ambassador birds are doing well; they've enjoyed some well deserved time off during the holidays.  Murphy is going through her typical winter behavior, preparing for a mate.  Bolt, who had surgery earlier in the summer, has healed well and is ready for 2015.  Clicky is steady as ever; he's the only bird ambassador that made an appearance at every event HH&H attended in 2014.  Trek's feathers are changing from his juvenile plumage to his sub-adult plumage.  When we got Trek last March, his bib was a light cream color and now it's morphing into a beautiful chocolate brown.  Digger is enjoying her tunnels and rearranging the dirt surrounding it all and living up to her name.  Duncan and Dabby are still "in training" but they're making great progress.

We have a very exciting and busy year planned with numerous presentations already on our schedule. If you'd like more details where you can see us, please click on the "What's HH&H Up To" tab.

We'd like to thank the many schools, libraries, and festivals that have asked us back again this year.  On February 7, we take the main stage once again at the 8th Annual Galt Winter Bird Festival.  We hope that you can join us at this fun-filled, FREE, family event with a variety of bird activities including field trips, building bird houses, and many vendor booths.
